Life line: what it actually means (and what it does not)
This is the line that worries people most, for the wrong reason. Let us be clear straight away: the life line is not a longevity counter. Here is what it is actually read as.
Where it sits
It starts between the thumb and the index finger, curves around the mount of Venus and runs down towards the wrist. The wider its arc, the more of the mount of Venus it encloses — and it is that volume, far more than its length, that is read as a reserve of vitality.
A short life line
It says nothing about the length of a life. In traditional reading, a short but clean line is read as concentrated energy: the person gives a great deal over intense periods, then needs to withdraw to recharge.
What matters more: is it deep or faint? A short, deep line tells a completely different story from a short, blurred one.
A broken or interrupted line
A break is not an announced disaster. It is read as a change of direction: a move, a separation, a job left behind, a way of living given up.
When a second line picks up further inside the palm after the break, traditional reading sees a change already under way — life resumed, elsewhere.
A double life line
A parallel line, often called the line of Mars, is read as support: a backup energy, or a protective presence in the person's life. It is one of the few configurations the tradition reads as plainly good news.
What the life line does not say
It announces no illness, no accident, no date. A reading that claimed otherwise would step outside guidance and personal development — and for any health question, it is a health professional you should see, not a palm.
