Fate line: work, calling and changes of direction
It is also called the line of Saturn. It rises towards the middle finger and speaks of what you do with your life: work, calling, direction. It is the line that varies most from one hand to another.
When it is absent
Many hands do not carry one, and this is one of the most stubborn misconceptions: no, it does not mean 'a life without destiny'.
In traditional reading, an absent fate line is read as a non-linear trajectory: the person does not follow a marked path, they build as they go. It is common among the self-employed and among those who have changed career several times.
When it starts late
A line that only begins in the middle of the palm is read as a calling found late — after a first part of life devoted to something else. Tradition rarely reads this as lateness, more as ripening.
Breaks and restarts
Each interruption is read as a change of direction. What matters is what follows: a line that resumes cleaner than before is read as a change that paid off; a line that resumes fainter, as a period still under construction.
