How to read palm lines: a beginner's guide to palmistry
Heart line, head line, life line, fate line… Discover the 4 main palm lines and what they reveal. A clear introduction to traditional palmistry.
Your hands carry your story
Palmistry — reading the lines of the hand — is one of the oldest forms of divination in the world. It existed in India 5,000 years ago, in ancient Greece, in China, in pharaonic Egypt. It still exists.
Why? Because palm lines move. They're not fixed at birth — they evolve, deepen, fade, depending on what you live. A difficult divorce can break a line. A great project can spark a new one.
Here are the 4 main lines Romy studies when you send your left palm.
❤️ The heart line
Where: the upper horizontal line running from the side of the hand (pinky side) toward the index.
What it says:
- Deep, clean line → you love intensely, you don't fake it
- Chained line (small curves) → emotions fluctuate, sensitive to atmospheres
- Short line → you prefer doing to feeling
- Broken line → an emotional event left a mark (loss, breakup)
🧠 The head line
Where: the middle horizontal line, below the heart line.
What it says:
- Long line crossing the palm → analytical mind, sustained focus
- Curved downward → strong imagination, creativity, dreamer
- Straight → pragmatic, realistic, structured
- Double line → very versatile, multiple distinct talents
🌱 The life line
Where: the line that circles the thumb, starting between thumb and index, descending toward the wrist.
What it says: Important: the life line does NOT predict how long you'll live. That's a myth. It speaks of your vitality, your grounding, your life force.
- Wide and curved → strong vitality, physical presence
- Thin and straight → subtle vitality, energy that lasts
- Multiple branches → many lives in one (major direction shifts)
🛤 The fate line
Where: a vertical line rising from the wrist toward the middle finger.
What it says:
- Present and deep → you follow a clear path, you know what you want
- Absent or very thin → you're free to draw your own path (not negative!)
- Broken then resumed → big career or life changes
- Several parallel lines → parallel lives (career + passion + family…)
The mounts
Beyond lines, Romy looks at the mounts — the cushions under each finger:
- Venus mount (under the thumb) → love, sensuality, vitality
- Jupiter mount (under index) → leadership, ambition
- Saturn mount (under middle) → wisdom, patience, seriousness
- Apollo mount (under ring finger) → creativity, art, success
- Mercury mount (under pinky) → communication, commerce
A fleshy mount = active energy. A flat mount = dormant or to develop.
Why the **left** palm?
European tradition: the left palm shows what you were born with, the right what you have built. Romy looks at both when possible, but always starts with the left.
Read your own hand?
You can try tonight, in front of a mirror. But the trained eye sees what you don't — the crossings, the fine marks, the resonance with your astrological chart and Chinese sign.
Romy combines palmistry + astrology + tarot + numerology + Chinese zodiac for a reading that goes far beyond what the hand alone can reveal.
« The right hand holds life, the left tells where it came from. Between the two, your sky is written. » — Romy
