This is the point of the chart that demands the most precision, and the one that explains the most misunderstandings — when you do not recognise yourself in your sun sign at all, it is often the Rising sign speaking louder.
What it actually is
The Rising sign is the sign that was coming up over the eastern horizon at the exact moment of your birth, seen from the place you were born. It changes roughly every two hours: two children born on the same day in the same city, three hours apart, do not share one.
What it is read as
In symbolic reading, it describes the front door: how you approach the world, how you are perceived before you are known, and often the reflexes you developed very early.
It does not contradict the Sun, it dresses it. A Pisces Sun with a Capricorn Rising gives someone deeply sensitive whom everyone finds serious and solid.
The Sun / Rising gap
This is often the most useful part of a reading. Many people live with a gap between what they feel inside (Sun, Moon) and what is reflected back at them (Rising).
Understanding that gap is not about making excuses: it is about no longer believing you show yourself badly.
Without the exact time, it cannot be done
An approximate time is not enough: within an hour, the Rising sign may already have changed. An honest reading prefers to leave that part out rather than offer a 'probable' Rising sign.
